Over 750 Participate in the Chamber Challenge 5k
The 3rd Chamber Challenge 5k presented by Dixon Hughes was a great success this past Friday.  Perfect weather, a record turnout, huge support from event sponsors and great volunteers made the race such a success! 

 

The 2009 Annual Meeting presented by Carolina First Bank

On Wednesday, July 1, Chamber members will gather to celebrate a year of much success and progress. The meeting begins with networking at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and ceremonies at 6:30 p.m. in The Grove Park Inn's Vanderbilt Ballroom.  We will recognize both the incoming and outgoing Boards of Directors for their service to the Chamber.

Awards to be presented at the Annual Meeting include:

Mountain Green 2009 Sustainability Conference

The Asheville Convention & Visitors Bureau and Advantage West are partnering with Warren Wilson College for the 3rd Annual Mountain Green Conference, an initiative to create a path toward environmental sustainability for the regional business community. This year’s conference has grown to encompass the interests of the tourism and hospitality industry and will be held on the Warren Wilson College campus near Asheville on Wednesday, June 24. Lean Supply Chain Seminar Discounted for Buncombe Employers

For those interested in extending LEAN beyond the manufacturing process, this June 18 workshop is the next logical step. Phish Concert Parking Available at the Chamber

The Chamber will be opening its parking lot to Phish fans this evening for the concert at the Civic Center.  Parking is available for $5 a car.

Inventive Ways to Build Your Business Brand

Businesses can learn how to get fired up at the “Brains on Fire” seminar hosted by the Asheville Ad Club. Greg Cordell, chief inspiration officer of Greenville’s brand agency will present winning strategies for engaging customers in ways that help businesses create a movement, not just a campaign. The seminar will be presented on Monday, June 15, at the Four Points Sheraton at 22 Woodfin Street in Asheville. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m.; lunch and presentation at noon. $15 AAF Asheville members or $25 for guests includes lunch. “Beer City Bash” to be held at The Orange Peel on June 26

Bruisin’ Ales, The Orange Peel, and The Mountain XPress are sponsoring the “Beer City Bash” on Friday, June 26. The bash is a celebration of all things beer in Asheville. The event is a victory party for the local beer community, that rallied to win an Examiner.com poll by Charlie Papazian,
founder of the Brewers Association, author, and one of the most recognized names in the world of beer and brewing. Tickets are $10 per person (ages 21 and over), including two 9 oz. craft beers of your choice, a raffle ticket for giveaways, and live music. The music line-up features the bands Rat Jackson, Wilsin and Floating Action. The bash starts at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will go to the newly-formed Asheville Brewers Alliance and Arts2People, both non-profits that benefit the local community.
