The Art of Hiring Smart & Workforce Development
The Chamber and the University of Phoenix are partnering to bring a full day Human Resources workshop approved for up to 4.5 HRCI credits. The workshop will take place on Thursday, August 13, at the new University of Phoenix facility in Biltmore Park. The morning session (2.5 HRCI credits) will focus on the art of smart hiring while the afternoon session (2.0 HRCI credits) will focus on a variety of workforce development topics. Chamber Classic Golf Tournament presented by Asheville Elevator
Returning to the Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa on August 17, this annual tournament for golfers from member businesses is full of networking, camaraderie and fun! The tournament is a shot-gun start with several prizes offered for players. There are two flights, afternoon and morning. Players may have their preference based on availability. MCAD Responsible Development Certification Course
The Mountain Council for Accountable Development is offering a two-day certification course that reviews, from start to finish, the process required to build in the mountains. Local experts will provide knowledge and real world examples to demonstrate conscientious, responsible development practices in WNC. September 13: Sawbones vs. Jawbones
Doctors and lawyers are preparing for a rumble right here in WNC. This face off isn’t what you might expect, however. Instead of being courtroom opponents, these MDs and JDs are athletic adversaries in the upcoming 2009 Sawbones vs. Jawbones basketball match.
Sawbones vs. Jawbones 2009 is being held at the UNCA Justice Center, Sunday, September 13 at 3 p.m. with pre-game festivities starting at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door and all kids four and under enter for free. All proceeds from ticket sales and the silent auction will be used to benefit programs of the Buncombe County Medical Society Foundation.
