Chamber Challenge 5k This Friday!

The 2009 Chamber Challenge 5k presented by Dixon Hughes is finally here! WIth over 600 runners and walkers signed up and a beautiful forecast this will be a great day. There is still time to register as an individual or gather a team of four, click here to register now!  Race participants are encouraged to:

  • Arrive at the Chamber no later than 4 p.m. on Friday
  • Pick up your race packet (containing bib, shirt and goody bag) on Thursday at the Chamber from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. or from 4 – 6 p.m.
  • Carpool to the event with your team, as parking is limited

Lean Supply Chain Seminar Discounted for Buncombe Employers

For those interested in extending LEAN beyond the manufacturing process, this June 18 workshop is the next logical step. Let our experts from NC State University show you how to apply lean to your supply and customer bases and discuss what your organization needs to implement the lean supply chain with success. Recommended for: Lean and Six Sigma team members and leaders, logistics, supply chain, material and inventory managers. AAA Vacations Asheville Brings Members an Exclusive Holiday Tour

The Chamber and AAA Vacations Asheville announce a special, holiday tour to Europe for its members, their families and friends. The Alpine Christmas tour is an exclusive opportunity for Asheville Chamber members. The tour, provided by AAA Member Choice Vacations, is operated by the nation’s oldest tour operator with vacations to all 7 continents and offers the holiday traveler a balanced mix of leisure and active involvement to ensure travelers get the full experience of Austria as well as Munich, Germany.  An informational meeting for anyone interested in learning more about the trip will be held at the Chamber on June 2 at 4 p.m.  For more information call 828.253.5376.

This past week on the Chamber Blog we congratulated the Bank of Asheville for being recognized as the 69th best community bank in the United States by US Banker Magazine. Thriving Workers for Thriving Businesses

Join us for an opportunity for business owners, executives, and HR managers to learn about innovative practices, collaborative efforts, and services to help our local workforce meet the challenges of training, transportation, childcare, healthcare, and affordable housing. Asheville Area Arts Council Opens More Gallery Space
Just in time for the second art walk of the season, the Asheville Area Arts Council’s newly-created Back Gallery is ready to receive visitors. The public is invited to attend the red ribbon opening at 5:15 p.m. on June 5. Works by area artists Courtney Chappell, Katherine McGinn, Virginia McKinley and Hank Fuseler will be on display throughout the evening as this event is being held in conjunction with the Asheville Downtown Association’s Gallery Walk scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. The works of McKinley, Fuseler, McGinn and Chappell can be viewed at the Back Gallery, 11 Biltmore Ave. from June 5 until June 27.
 

The Autumn Players Present The Heiress

Asheville Community Theatre's senior theatre group, The Autumn Players, and the University of North Carolina Center for Creative Retirement partner to present a Readers Theatre showcase of The Heiress by Ruth and Augustus Goetz. Performances will be held Friday, June 12, and Saturday, June 13, at 2:30 p.m. at 35below at Asheville Community Theatre and Sunday, June 14, at the Reuter Center on the UNCA campus. Tickets are $5 and may be purchased in advance at the Asheville Community Theatre Box Office, located at 35 East Walnut Street. The Box Office phone number is 828.254.1320.
