Linamar Corporation Holds Management Job Fair
Those who joined the Chamber for its 114th Annual Meeting watched the announcement that Linamar Corporation is bringing its newest precision machining facility to Asheville, creating 400 jobs and an investment of $125 million. Linamar will occupy the vacant Volvo Construction Equipment campus at Lake Julian. Linamar expects to be in operation by the first quarter of 2012, with renovation of the facility beginning immediately.

In preparation for launching the organization’s operations in the first quarter of 2012, Linamar is beginning its local recruitment efforts for management and professional positions, including plant management, accounting, engineering, maintenance, logistics and procurement, health and safety, as well as information technology.

The job fair is being held in conjunction with the Economic Coalition for Asheville Buncombe-County (EDC) today, July 5 from 12 - 8 p.m. and tomorrow, July 6 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Haynes Building on the A-B Tech Enka Campus at 1459 Sand Hill Road. Chamber Hosts CAYLA Intern Alex Mitchiner
The Chamber is hosting an intern from the City of Asheville Youth Leadership Academy (CAYLA) this summer. Alex Mitchiner spent her first week with the Convention & Visitors Bureau. She toured the White Gate Inn and worked with the marketing department to see how the ExploreAsheville.com site and social media helps entice travel to the area. She then moved on to the membership department to help with the 114th Annual Meeting of the Chamber. We look forward to a great summer with Alex! Hear from Alex herself about the beginning of her internship at the Chamber on the Asheville Business Blog. Learn more about the CAYLA internship program.
