Tell us about your business and the role you play in it.
Ally Financial Inc. (NYSE: ALLY) is a digital financial services company committed to its promise to “Do It Right” for its consumer, commercial and corporate customers. Ally is composed of an industry-leading independent auto finance and insurance operation, an award-winning digital direct bank (Ally Bank, Member FDIC and Equal Housing Lender, which offers mortgage lending, point-of-sale personal lending, and a variety of deposit and other banking products), a consumer credit card business, a corporate finance business for equity sponsors and middle-market companies, and securities brokerage and investment advisory services.
Where did your vision begin? How has it grown?
The Weaverville Contact is our newest site to launch to support consumers with all their banking needs whether it’s opening a new account, servicing existing accounts, or money transfer. There are currently 102 employees.
What made you choose the Asheville area?
Ally worked closely with a 3rd party supplier in the area for the past several years. When this vendor decided to relocate/consolidate operations and Ally was eager to retain the talented workforce already in place. On 12/1/2021, the site was rebranded as Ally and the employees became full time Ally employees. The level of expertise at this site, the proximity to our Charlotte operations, and the growth potential from an employee pool perspective, made Asheville/Weaverville an attractive location for our business.
What is a little-known fact about your organization?
Ally Bank is 100% online – there are no consumer banking branches. This model allows us to pass on competitive rates and exemplary service to our customers with NO monthly or overdraft fees. Our customer service is handled through professional customer care associates throughout the U.S.
