The robots have come to AdventHealth! They have added disinfection robots to their arsenal of cleaning and sanitation tools and protocol. The robots can be used in operating rooms, patients rooms, and anywhere else that requires disinfection; in addition to making hospital rooms safer, they can also be used to disinfect personal protective equipment.

Award 

  • For the second semester in a row, the Gardner-Webb University School of Education and its secondary education programs have received a perfect (100 percent pass!) score on the edTPA. This performance-based, subject-specific assessment and support system is used by teacher preparation programs throughout the United States. Success on the edTPA demonstrates a student candidate’s readiness for a full-time classroom teaching assignment. Congrats, Gardner-Webb! 

Expansion 

  • Since 2006, Main Street in Hendersonville has been home to the Four Seasons Hospice Home Store, a well-known high-end resale shop supported by community donations. Now, Four Seasons is excited to announce that it has brought a second location into Buncombe County. Located on Long Shoals Road, this new Home Store provides 8500 square feet of shopping space and will accept donations on site.  Donation drop off and pick up are available, as well as purchase delivery. 

Opening 

  • The YMCA will open indoor pools at the Asheville, Black Mountain, Corpening Memorial, Hendersonville Family, and Reuter Family locations. They will also open Patton Pool in Hendersonville. They plan to kick off a series of outdoor group exercise classes and bring back summer day camps (for kids ages 5-12)   We are excited to welcome you back to pool season. Indoor pools will reopen at the Asheville YMCA, Black Mountain YMCA, Corpening Memorial YMCA, Hendersonville Family YMCA, and the Reuter Family YMCA. We will also open Patton Pool in Hendersonville.   • The UPS franchises in Asheville kicked off a promotional special for businesses that may be reopening during Phase 2. Their Back to Business Kit includes the printing of ten floor decals, one 24″x18″ yard sign, and one 2’x6′ outdoor vinyl banner, and has a savings over $50! Head to any UPS location to take advantage of this special.
  • Asheville Music School is opening its doors for socially-distanced summer camp! All camps will comply with CDC and NCDHHS guidelines for Phase 2. Their camps will run Monday-Friday for either full or half days. Learn more on their website.

Technology 

  • AdventHealth Hendersonville has added a new, high-tech tool to keep patients safe during surgeries and hospital stays. The Tru-D SmartUVC are germ-eliminating UVC disinfection robots that add to AdventHealth’s already extensive list of disinfection protocols. AdventHealth has the capability to use the robots in its operating rooms, patient rooms and other areas that require disinfection. The robots are also able to disinfect PPE such as masks!
