What made you choose the Asheville area?
After completing my professional training, I knew I wanted to return to my hometown to serve the community that helped shape who I am today. Growing up here, I’ve always felt a deep connection to the people and the place, and it’s a true privilege to now be in a position where I can give back through the work I do.
Coming back to Asheville, I’ve seen how much the area has grown and evolved, but the sense of community and support remains strong. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be able to contribute to the health and well-being of my neighbors, friends, and families—people I’ve known for years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to practice here, and I look forward to rediscovering all the new things this area has to offer while continuing to be part of a community that means so much to me.
What has been your greatest challenge? Your greatest victory?
One of the greatest challenges I’ve encountered so far has been starting my medical practice as the only physician in the office. While I anticipated this, it didn’t lessen the weight of responsibility. I knew I would not only be providing medical care, but also managing the administrative and logistical aspects of the practice.
My confidence in my training, skills, and the relationships I’ve built within the medical community have provided a solid foundation. I’ve learned to embrace flexibility, remain open to growth, and seek opportunities to adapt. While I may be the only physician in the office, I’m never truly alone because of the support from my team, patients, and community.
My greatest victory has been making a meaningful difference in the health and well-being of my patients. Many residents have been searching for a primary care provider for years, and being able to fill that gap has been incredibly rewarding. Building relationships that foster trust, collaboration, and improved health outcomes is a privilege, and I’m proud to serve Western North Carolina in this way.
If you had to give one piece of advice to someone just starting out in your field, what would it be?
My advice is to focus on what truly brings you joy and fulfillment. It’s easy to get caught up in the expectations and comparisons that arise in medicine, such as pursuing high-paying or prestigious specialties. But if you don’t have a genuine passion for your work, burnout becomes more likely.
Find a specialty or role that aligns with your interests and values. When you truly enjoy your work, it becomes a calling rather than just a job. Success isn’t just about climbing the career ladder—it’s about being content in your daily work and making a lasting impact on patients and your community.
What does the word “community” mean to you?
To me, community means camaraderie and belonging. It’s the connection you form with neighbors, local businesses, and the people you interact with every day. Asheville holds a special place in my heart, and being able to serve the people here as a healthcare provider feels like coming full circle.
Over the years, Asheville has experienced tremendous growth, but its sense of community has endured. I’m proud to contribute to that growth and to give back to the place that helped shape who I am today.
