JM Leadership Development helps form skills through innovation & connection

June 9, 2021

When Jason Muhammad, the Founder of JM Leadership Development, discovered his love for teaching, he was working as a Dean of Students for a middle school in Minnesota.

“I had the responsibility and pleasure of coordinating paraprofessionals, bus aids and parent volunteers for our school,” Muhammad said. “The process of educating, teaching and training brought out a passion I never knew I had; however I truly didn’t have the hard skills it took to truly be successful.”

Now, with JM Leadership Development, Muhammad is helping people develop leadership skills through adaptation, innovation and connection.

Tell us about your business.

Greetings! My name is Jason Muhammad Founder of JM Leadership Development. This company was founded out of necessity and here’s what I mean. Back in 2013 I was a Dean of Students for progressive middle school in Minneapolis Minnesota where I had the responsibility and pleasure of coordinating paraprofessionals, bus aids and parent volunteers for our school. The process of educating, teaching and training brought out a passion I never knew I had; however I truly didn’t have the hard skills it took to truly be successful.

I was never taught any leadership development skills until I went to Saint Thomas Christian University and received my certification in life and leadership coaching. From there I started doing career coaching that naturally evolved into leadership coaching and consulting. The first name I had for my company was JM Career Coaching then JM Leadership Consulting Until what it is today, JM Leadership Development. As I have evolved I have noticed that leadership development was really what I had been doing all the while.

What are you most proud of?

What I’m most proud of about my company is I have continued to do business through the pandemic by exemplifying the three mindsets of next generation Leaders which is adapt, innovate and connect.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

The best advice I’ve been given and would share with other small businesses is to be consistent and always keep your ideal customer in mind and not so much as your product. Your ideal customer will let you know what product you need to develop.

What’s next for you?

What’s next for JM leader ship development is to go in companies and train up their next generation leaders. Statistics state that most programs do not have a progressive leadership development program and those that do do not have a way to measure the outcomes and that’s where my company steps in.

Anything else to add?

I truly believe in the Asheville area Chamber Of Commerce statement that together we are more because it definitely takes teamwork make the dream work thank you!
