Young Professionals of Asheville (YPA) President Jonathan Hunter announced that the organization will partner with Western Carolina University’s Asheville campus to offer a new, annual Business Leadership Series for area young professionals.

“As YPA continues to evolve, we’re proud to offer new opportunities like the Business Leadership Series,” said Jonathan Hunter, president of Young Professionals of Asheville. “This professional development opportunity lets our members network and build valuable skills for the workplace at the same time.”

The four-part monthly series will begin this spring at WCU’s Biltmore Park instructional site, located at 28 Schenck Parkway in Asheville, and will explore communication as a leadership skill. Each 90-minute lunch and learn session will feature an expert speaker on topics including personal and situational communication, digital communication and conflict resolution.

“WCU is excited to partner with YPA to bring additional professional development opportunities to its membership,” said Dr. Kevan Frazier, executive director of Western Carolina University’s Programs in Asheville. “The new Business Leadership Series is a great way for area young professionals to grow in their careers and strengthen their leadership skills.”

Young professionals interested in participating in the Business Leadership Series can register online. The series will be limited to the first 30 registrants, and registrants must have a current and active YPA membership to participate.

2020 YPA Business Leadership Series events will be held on:

  • March 12, 2020 – 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
  • April 16, 2020 – 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
  • May 21, 2020 – 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM
  • June 18, 2020 – 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM

Business Leadership Series participants will receive promotional codes toward professional development and continuing education courses at WCU at the end of each session. Participants who attend all four sessions will receive certificates of attendance and will be eligible for door prizes.
