Tell us about your business and the role you play in it.
My role is the owner of HOTWORX Asheville however I consider myself a wellness expert! I am also the owner and practitioner at The Plug: A Chiropractic Wellness Center here in Asheville so I am actively involved in making sure the HOTWORX members are meeting their health and wellness goals as well as insuring a positive experience and clean studio. HOTWORX is a virtually instructed exercise program created for users to experience the many benefits of infrared heat absorption, while completing a 30-minute isometric workout or 15-min High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) session. As the infrared heat penetrates your body causing you to sweat, the isometric postures further accelerate detoxification by physically removing the toxins from your organs through muscle contraction. The results our users achieve make HOTWORX one of the most efficient 30-minute workout programs in the fitness and beauty industry today! This innovative technology is available for members 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A HOTWORX certified Virtual Instructor will guide you through each 15-minute HIIT and 30-minute Isometric session, while motivating you to EARN THE BURN.
How did you come up with your idea or concept for your business? How did you decide on a name?
HOTWORX is a Franchise that we joined in 2020. Everyone knows how crazy the times were that year and while we were members at another studio we saw massive health benefits. When we moved back to Asheville in late 2021 we knew that our city needed this. HOTWORX has been around since 2017 and has grown rapidly to over 500+ open locations around the world.
What makes your business unique in its field?
HOTWORX is the first of it’s kind in the fitness world! HOTWORX combines HEAT, INFRARED ENERGY, and EXERCISE as its 3D Training model to achieve massive results from the consistency and cross training during the workouts. All HOTWORX sessions are virtually trainer lead which allows for 24/7 flexibility to workout at times that are most convenient for members which overall increases retention especially in the busy times we live in today.
How many employees do you have? And what qualities do you look for when hiring?
We currently have 4 part time employees but always looking to grow and expand. We believe having a goal driven cohesive team is always the driving force behind any business big or small. When hiring we look for goal driven leaders with strong personalities who are willing to grow their knowledge about health and wellness but also be a driving force in the community to promote that as well.
During your first year of business, what was the greatest lesson you learned?
During our first year of business the greatest lesson we learned was community involvement. This is still a struggle for us owning and managing two businesses, however we understand that to grow better and healthier communities it starts with getting out and promoting what health and wellness actually looks like.
Where do you see your business in the next year? The next five? Over the next year we are looking to grow our current location to 1000+ members! We want everyone to experience the various benefits that our studio offer. Those benefits range from stress reduction, weight loss, detoxification, muscle recovery and much much more. Within the next 5 years we plan on opening other studios in the area to really grow the health and wellness realm in the Asheville and surrounding areas.
