Creating a welcoming hospitality experience

The Asheville Chamber is proud to have a dedicated team of volunteers who play an essential role in creating warm, memorable experiences for every guest who enters the Asheville Visitor Center.

We welcome community volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds and professional experience with a genuine passion for hospitality!

Asheville Visitor Center volunteers are often the very first impression visitors receive of our community. Through their kindness, knowledge and commitment to service, they help create a welcoming environment that reflects the best of our community. Their hospitality makes a lasting impact and we are deeply grateful for all they do.

Volunteering at the Asheville Visitor Center

Key Volunteer Roles:

Volunteers serve as ambassadors for the greater Asheville area and help guests by:

Greeting every guest with warmth, enthusiasm and helpful attitude
Assisting visitors and newcomers with questions and trip planning
Promoting local businesses and attractions – offering recommendations for activities, dining, shopping and experiences throughout the area
Answering phone calls related to trip planning, Visitor Guide requests, group assistance and general Chamber inquiries
Visitor Center administrative support such as restocking visitor materials, creating customized recommendations, etc.
Staying informed about new attractions, restaurants, events and Chamber member businesses

Scheduling & Commitment:

Volunteers typically serve one consistent four-hour shift each week: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. or 1 p.m.-5 p.m. Some volunteers may choose to serve on a flexible or “as needed” basis to help cover schedule changes or absences.

The Visitor Center proudly services guests 360 days a year, closing only on New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
