More than $600K in Grant Funding Opportunities for Juvenile Crime Prevention Programs Available Now
The Buncombe County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) is now accepting proposals for fiscal year 2021-2022. Small grants totaling more than $600,000 in state funding for local nonprofits and public agencies working to serve delinquent and at-risk youth in our community. The JCPC is seeking innovative projects designed to address the following factors in our community: School Behavior/Adjustment, Substance Abuse Within Past 12 Months, Abuse/Neglect History, Mental Health Needs. application instructions here.

AdventHealth Hendersonville Announces Inaugural Winner of the Sunshine Award
AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to introduce you to the first recipient of its new Sunshine Award. Melissa Metcalf, CMA is part of the AdventHealth Medical Group Psychiatry team. Melissa earned this award because of her dedication to take patient care beyond the doors of AdventHealth clinics. She has been a vital part of the AdventHealth Food Prescription program for patients across our system who are food insecure. AdventHealth Nursing Leadership created the Sunshine Award to recognize ancillary team members who strive for excellence in their profession, consistently deliver exceptional care, uphold the highest standards and collaborate with the AdventHealth nursing teams to enhance the experience of our patients, family members and guests.

Dr. Amieris Lavender joins  YWCA as Chief Program Officer
Dr. Amieris Lavender has been appointed as Chief Program Officer for the YWCA. Dr. Lavender will be responsible for managing all YWCA programs, designed to fulfill the mission of eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Asheville businesses team up to feed frontline workers
WLOS News13 Persons of the Week segment recently highlighted ongoing efforts to to feed our health care workers during COVID-19. Chamber members Asheville Rooftop Bars Tours and Ivory Road along with Sandhill Kitchen have been collaborating to give back. There are more delivery dates coming up in February. Donations for meals for healthcare workers can be sent via Venmo (@Jill-Wasilewski) or via check made out to Ivory Road LLC and mailed to 1854 Brevard Road, Arden NC 28704
