Community:

  • Eblen Charities is organizing its 10th annual Winter Coat Giveaway on November 8th and 9th from 9 am to 5 pm at 23 Hamilton Street, close to Mission Hospital. Over 1,000 winter coats and weather items were collected in partnership with WLOS, Two Men and a Truck, and Carolina Furniture Concepts during a spring drive. These items will be distributed for free to help people stay warm this winter. If you missed the chance to donate, you can still contribute by dropping off coats at Eblen Charities on Hamilton Street from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.   • Asheville Outlets is set to host the Wildflower Women’s Market Fall Festival on October 28, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This family-friendly event, open to the public, offers music, food trucks, and various activities. Attendees can explore an array of unique products, services, and artworks presented by local women-owned businesses and artisans. The Wildflower Women’s Market, Asheville’s exclusive monthly marketplace for women, aims to promote and support local female entrepreneurs while fostering connections and community among women in the area. The event, designed as a boutique marketplace with a festival atmosphere, is a safe and welcoming space for women to rejuvenate and connect. Refreshments will be available, with a portion of proceeds supporting LEAF Global Arts, a local non-profit organization fostering cultural connections and global understanding through music and arts education in Asheville and worldwide.   • Poppy Popcorn has exciting news to share. Firstly, they are launching a splendid Holiday Pop-Up Shop on November 4th, located at 8 Town Square Blvd, Suite 140, Biltmore Park. Although there’s a special preview party on November 3rd from 5-8 pm, open to media, friends, and family, where attendees can sample Poppy’s three new international flavors debuting in January 2024 and enjoy locally brewed lemonade. On the Grand Opening Day, November 4th, the first 100 customers will receive a complimentary bag of Asheville Mix. The Pop-Up Shop will remain open until Valentine’s Day, offering a delightful range of popcorn varieties. Operating hours are Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 8 pm, and Sunday, 12 pm to 6 pm. Poppy is set to spread holiday cheer with additional events, including a Mini Pop-Up on November 18th, showcasing local brands and a “Maker Meet & Greet” event. On December 2nd, they will participate in Biltmore Park’s tree lighting ceremony, providing delectable popcorn samples. Moreover, on December 3rd, there will be a creative event at the Pop-Up Shop, guiding attendees in making popcorn garlands.
