Business Buzz: 10/9/20

October 9, 2020

Starting this coming Tuesday, October 13th, most Buncombe County Public Library branches will reopen to the public with limited hours and services. The library system will encourage brief “grab and go” visits to allow them to serve a larger number of patrons. Computers will be available for use, although meeting and study spaces will remain closed. In-person library programs, including storytime, will not be offered; however, virtual program will continue to be available.

Community

  • The Asheville Art Museum has announced a new COVID-19 matching challenge. Thanks to a generous grant from a longtime foundation supporter, the Museum has established the Asheville Art Museum COVID-19 Relief Fund and matching challenge to provide additional essential, operational support during this difficult year. Through December 31, 2020, all donations to the Museum’s Annual Fund and Museum membership upgrades will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $75,000. Visit ashevilleart.org/donate to learn more and donate.
  • Do you need a cup (or a few) of ambition before you start the day? During the month of October, popular coffee shops and cafés throughout Buncombe County donate up to five cents of each cup of coffee purchased to support local sports programs for community members with intellectual disabilities. Ivory Road Cafe, Mosaic Cafe, PennyCup Coffee’s, Round Earth Roasters, and Trout Lily Market will all donate 5 cents per cup. Buncombe County Special Olympics is made possible through funding from donors and support from Buncombe County Government. To donate or volunteer, visit the organization’s website.
