Business Buzz: 12/20/19

December 20, 2019

The Asheville Humane Society and The Last Great Hunt have teamed up for “New Owner,” a multimedia theatrical performance about the life and adventures of a shelter dog. Bart is a boisterous puppy at the shelter, and Mabel is a lonely widow. The day they find each other marks the beginning of a profound friendship. But Mabel is old, and Bart is young — and suddenly, he’s alone. The show premiers in January at the Diana Wortham Theatre.

Achievement

  • According to a new study, Asheville ranks among the top 15 U.S. cities for beer drinkers. Researchers analyzed total number of breweries, breweries per 100,000 residents, average number of beers per brewery, and the average price of a pint. At 27 breweries per 100,000 residents, Asheville clocks in in the top 25%. The average price for a pint is $4, and an Asheville brewery offers about 90 kinds of beer. You can dive more into the study here.
