Business Buzz: 4/10/20

April 10, 2020

If you need a break from COVID coverage, look no further. Today in Business Buzz, there’s news on  medical technology, awards, and more.

Award

  • AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to introduce that Anne Allen, RN, CCM, is the newest winner of the DAISY Foundation Award for nursing. The DAISY Award was created by the family of J. Patrick Barnes to thank the nurses who cared for Patrick and for them as he battled an autoimmune disease. Anne was nominated for the DAISY Award by her Director who highlighted one example of Anne’s exceptional commitment involving a recent patient, who is the full-time caregiver for his wife who has dementia.  Congrats, Anne!

Community

  • We send our condolences to the family of the late Allan Morse, owner of Sante’ Wine Bar. He recently passed away (not coronavirus-related); his family plans to sell the business and will be holding a special curbside pickup wine sale in his memory from April 16th to April 18th. Learn more here.
  • Best of WNC Voting is officially open. While we’re all taking time away and social distancing, take some time to think about all the amazing small businesses that make Asheville what it is, and vote here. Voting will be open through April 30th.
  • Child abuse claims the lives of more than four children a day, and with the increase in financial, emotional and physical stressors from COVID-19, Child Advocacy teams anticipate seeing increases in cases of abuse. To draw awareness to this issue, AdventHealth Hendersonville is participating in the Prevent Child Abuse America’s Pinwheels for Prevention event by creating a pinwheel garden on the front lawn of their main campus and other locations. The goal is to encourage families and communities to work together to prevent child abuse and neglect. To learn more about the Pinwheels for Prevention program, please visit preventchildabuse.org.
