Expansion:

  • Mercy Urgent Care is expanding operating hours at its East and South Asheville locations beginning Sunday, April 23, 2023. The East Asheville clinic, located at 1272 Tunnel Rd., and South Asheville clinic at 1833 Hendersonville Rd., will now be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. “Expanding our hours at the East and South Asheville locations will allow us to not only better serve members of the community, but also better to serve businesses in those areas,” said Business Development Manager Jon Medin. “Between the new, longer hours, and Screen 24/7 after-hours testing, we are able to provide occupational medicine services around the clock.” The hours for the other six clinics remain the same — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week for the Brevard and Burnsville locations; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week for the Columbus and Waynesville locations; and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at the West Asheville and Weaverville locations. Happenings:

  • Legacy of Hope International is holding its 4th Annual “Thankful Luncheon.” You can join them Friday, April 28th for a drop-in Thai Lunch from 11:30 am – 2 pm. They will have an overview of preventing abuse and human trafficking with Survivor Leaders and lived life experiences at 12:15 pm and 1:30 pm. Raffle prizes include Fairtrade Bag made by their partners in Cambodia as well as beautiful artwork from a local artist, Jeff Pittman! To win, you must be present around noon to 2 pm and donate at least $15.   • Montford Park Players has announced their upcoming World Premiere of Skyler Goff’s Wendy and Peter. All performances will be held at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre at 92 Gay Street in the heart of Asheville’s historic Montford District, from May 6th through June 4th on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings at 7:30 pm. This play is a brand-new take on the classic tale of Peter Pan, Wendy and Peter follows that play’s Wendy Darling into adulthood and on the frontlines of World War I. Even as she tells the children under her care the stories of her childhood adventures, she gets whisked back to Never Never Land with Peter and Tinker Bell to once again see raucous Lost Boys, the mysterious Druids and the dastardly Captain Hook. This adaptation has all of the family-friendly magic you’d expect, while asking what growing up means to a young girl in a world run by boys.
  • “It’s a delightful tale of a time gone by. It will make you laugh. It will make you cry. It will make you think. A Theatrical Trifecta!” Says Pasquale LaCorte, the star of the one-man show, Say Goodnight Gracie, showing at Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre May 18-28, 2023. Say Goodnight Gracie is the most successful one-man show in Broadway history about one of the greatest comic acts ever. This show celebrates George Burns whose career was showcased across radio, film, and television and was known for his smoking cigar and arched eyebrow.   • AdventHealth Hendersonville is now partnering with the OB Hospitalist Group (OBHG) to provide board-certified OB/GYN’s hospitalists that offer on-site, 24-hour-a-day, labor and delivery care at The Baby Place. Every patient coming to The Baby Place can count on an experienced OB hospitalist on-site to provide consistent, comprehensive, quality medical care to pregnant women or to women who have just given birth. They provide emergency care prior to the arrival of the patient’s own doctor, support high-risk pregnancy patients and deliver babies for patients who don’t have an obstetrician. The OB Hospitalist Group is the industry’s largest, dedicated OB/GYN hospitalist provider. The group’s board-certified and experienced clinicians are trained in best practices specific to OB hospitalist medicine. Relocation:

  • Living Stone Design + Build is relocating to the city of Asheville. The luxury custom homebuilder, known for its premium energy-efficient mountain homes, will join sister companies I.D.Ology Interiors and Design, a premier design firm, and Atelier Maison, a high-end organic furniture studio, on Sweeten Creek Rd in the newly formed Asheville Design District. Living Stone recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and has been based in Black Mountain for 22 years. The company has been an active member in the community, supporting both Bounty & Soul, Western Carolina Rescue Ministries, and Black Mountain Home for Children. Living Stone and the Asheville Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for the opening on May 2nd.
