Announcement:

  • Asheville Outlets has announced a Crate & Barrel Outlet will be opening this summer in their shops. At Crate & Barrel Outlet, shoppers can find home furnishings and accessories on a budget. In addition to clearance items, shoppers can also buy a small assortment of items offered in the Crate & Barrel stores. “Asheville Outlets is thrilled to welcome Crate & Barrel Outlet to the center,” says Asheville Outlets General Manager Miranda Bowman. “This location will be one of eighteen outlet stores in the country. With a surge in home furnishing sales, the line-up of home furnishing retailers at Asheville Outlets will afford area shoppers the opportunity to upgrade their homes with a one stop visit.” Learn more here.

Community:

  • The Safety Justice Challenge (SJC) is seeking 10 community members to serve on a workgroup. This community engagement with SJC is about involving people who are directly and indirectly affected by government policies and practices. For this workgroup, a community member is someone who is impacted by the justice system and is not affiliated with, or being paid by an organization to participate with the workgroup. Activities will include continuing to plan, facilitate and host activities such as town halls, focus groups, listening sessions; reviewing content and material related to public education campaigns, information sessions and community meetings; and developing communication strategies between community and criminal justice system organizations.   • Buncombe County is looking for an organization that can help them achieve community literacy using an evidence-based approach and provide data to show improvement is being made. A major pillar of Buncombe County’s 2025 Strategic Plan is creating an educated and capable community with the specific goals of increasing third grade literacy rates, especially among underperforming students, and improving college and career readiness.
