  • AdventHealth of Hendersonville has announced Stephen McGrady, CNA is the newest winner of the Sunflower Award. McGrady, who works on the Medical/Surgical Unit at AdventHealth Hendersonville, was nominated for exceptional work ethic embedded in the care he provides for patients. AdventHealth Hendersonville established the quarterly Sunflower Award to recognize certified nursing assistants who commit to striving for excellence in their profession; consistently deliver patient-centered, whole-person care with integrity; embrace the opportunity to learn and grow; and integrate change to improve the health and well-being of patients, family members and guests while Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ. Happenings:

  • The City of Asheville is holding the “Information and Truth Telling Speakers Series” in June that will include opportunities for community members and local and national speakers to share information about past policies, present trends and disparities, and future initiatives. Held June 3, 10, and 17 from 6-8 p.m. at the Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Harrah’s Cherokee Center, these series will be moderated by Dr. Darin Water, Ph.D the Honors Director, Director for Community Engagement & Professor of History.   • The Wortham Center for the Performing Arts has announced a full summer of events for 2021. With recently lifted mandates, the Wortham Center is getting back to live performances starting off with the Ballet Conservatory of Asheville’s performance of “La Sylphide” on June 4 & 5.   • ConMet is holding an on-site Job Fair from 2-6 p.m Wednesday, May 26 and Thursday, May 27 at 171 Great Oak Dr. in Canton.
