LifeTutors has announced the launch of their new  Collegiate Recovery & Student Resiliency Program, which will provide support for students who face behavioral and emotional challenges prepare for college. LifeTutors is an Asheville-based organization that has aided young adults transitioning to independent living after treatment for substance use or mental health concerns since 2018. They hope their new program will help bridge the gap between home/structured care and collegiate independence as the foundation necessary for academic success and emotional resiliency.

Award 

  • AdventHealth Hendersonville has once again earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for the Spine Surgery Center of Excellence Certification. The Gold Seal of Approval is a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care. Throughout the pandemic, AdventHealth has maintained regular care appointments through traditional and new Telehealth appointments, as well as kept their patients’ and employees’ health a constant priority with increased and regular sanitation and compassionate care. Congrats, AdventHealth!
  • Last month, Kudzu Brands kicked off their Brand New Start 10k Brand Giveaway, a community-wide competition giving away $10,000 in branding services to one local nonprofit and business looking to adjust or pivot during the COVID-19 health crisis. Ten finalists were selected by Kudzu Brands, and those finalists were turned over to the public for a final online vote. After 20,000 votes, Asheville Wellness Tours and the Literacy Council of Buncombe County came out as the giveaway winners. Stay tuned for their brand-new branding!
  • Johnson Price Sprinkle PA has been named a 2020 Best Employers in North Carolina. Only 55 North Carolina businesses received this year’s recognition. Of the fifty-five, JPSChampion Credit Union, and Zoe Dental were the only WNC based companies. Statewide, JPS is one of three accounting firms recognized this year.  This is the seventh consecutive year JPS has been named a Best Employers in North Carolina!

Community

  • In order to keep first responders, essential workers, and community members safe as N.C. begins to reopen, Autobell Car Wash is now providing an Interior Disinfectant service at no cost with an interior cleaning wash purchase. Learn more about the offer here.
  • Food Connection and the YMCA of WNC have teamed up to connect freshly prepared to-go  meals from Wicked Weed Brewing to those in need in the area. Red Wing Enterprises, another local company, has also joined the initiative by producing live music to help draw more people in need to the safe (and socially distant!) drive-through. To date, over 31,000 meals have been distributed, and the organizations continue to provide relief to more people each week in WNC.
  • Asheville School of Music is holding their annual Come Together Asheville concert live on  YouTube,  on June 11 at 7:30 PM. The concert will also raise money for music programs and musicians; featured performs include Mark & Maggie O’Connor Duo, David Wilcox, Al Petteway & Amy White, Jamie Laval, Underhill Rose, Matt Williams, Kevin “Kalimbaman” Spears, Andrew Scotchie, Adama Dembele, Ashley Heath, The Moon And You, Jeremias Zunguze, Hilliary Begley, Dan Weiser, MAR, and more.
