Anniversary:

  • Hammerhead Stoneworks of Asheville, led by Marc Archambault, is marking its 15th anniversary with an Open House event. Celebrate this significant milestone and explore what’s ahead with Marc and his team. Renowned for their large-scale stone installations such as The Greenman mosaic and The Stream Path at the NC Arboretum, the event will showcase Marc’s first gallery show, Sweet Creatures, featuring smaller natural stone mosaics suitable for home display. Additionally, guests can expect to see stone rugs, benches, and Garden Guardians at the Open House. Founded in April 2009, Hammerhead specializes in crafting strong and beautiful patios, walls, and other natural stone features in residential settings around Asheville. The event will be held at Hammerhead’s studio and shop space at 1001 Riverside Drive in Woodfin on Friday, April 26, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Attendees will have the chance to tour the studio, view the gallery, enjoy light refreshments, and peruse a photo wall showcasing creative highlights from the past 15 years.   • Eblen Charities is partnering with WLOS-TV for the 12th Annual Spring Clean Coat Drive on Friday, April 19th, from 7 am to 7 pm at Carolina Furniture Concept on Airport Road. Two Men and a Truck will also be participating in the event. They encourage individuals to bring clean and gently used coats, especially children’s, teen’s, and men’s coats, as they are in high demand this year. Two Men and a Truck will collect the coats and deliver them to Eblen Charities for distribution at their Coat Giveaway in October and throughout the winter.   • On April 20, 2024, Buncombe County Parks & Recreation will host Earth Day activities across various locations. Community members, students, and organizations are encouraged to participate in biodiversity initiatives and park beautification efforts. From 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., volunteers can help create a pollinator garden at Buncombe County Sports Park in collaboration with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. This garden will support local ecosystems by providing essential habitats for bees and butterflies. Additionally, volunteers can assist with landscaping efforts at Lake Julian Park, where materials will be provided. An Earth Day Fair will also take place at Buncombe County Sports Park, featuring environmental workshops, eco-crafting, and activities like bird house building.   • Asheville’s culinary scene joins forces with Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity for the Blueprint Breakfast for Dinner event on June 6th. Local chefs, including Michelle Bailey, Brian Crow, and Steven Goff, will serve breakfast-inspired dishes for dinner, reflecting unique perspectives on ‘home.’ The event, produced by Shay & Company, features live music, wine tastings, and a raffle.
