2014 Sky High Growth Award Winners Announced

The Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce presented the 2014  Sky High Growth Award to 28 businesses that have experienced outstanding growth in sales and/or employment over the last several years. These 28 businesses collectively represent nearly 2,000 jobs.

The 2014 Sky High Growth Award winners are:

The Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce presented the 2014  Sky High Growth Award to 28 businesses that have experienced outstanding growth in sales and/or employment over the last several years. These 28 businesses collectively represent nearly 2,000 jobs.

The 2014 Sky High Growth Award winners are:

  • 1-800-Water Damage: Active involvement in the community and networking has resulted in increased business for this property damage restoration company.
  • American Security Shredding (seven-year winner): Confidential document shredding. In the process of purchasing a second mobile shredding truck to accommodate rising demand for on-site destruction. Shredded and recycled 2,100,00 lbs of paper in 2013.
  • Asheville Arborists, Inc.: Investing in new equipment that will cut project time, increase safety and expand services.
  • Brumit Restaurant Group, LLC (two-year winner): Expanding in WNC and SC with new Arby's locations and new brand Which Wich just opened in Asheville.
  • Carolina Mornings (four-year winner): Vacation rentals in the Asheville area.
  • Charlotte Street Computers (seven-year winner): Knowledgeable and certified staff support this company's growth for computer repair and sales.
  • The Chocolate Fetish (three-year winner): Steady growth. Has received local, regional and national media.
  • Clean Streak, Inc. (three-year winner): Secured new clients and expanded services. Specializes in environmentally healthy cleaning products and services.
  • Dynamite Roasting Company: Clear vision has helped this local coffee roasting company succeed.
  • Edible Arrangements (two-year winner): Building on their local growth to expand the franchise outside of Asheville.
  • EfficiencyLab (four-year winner): Custom software development – this small company continues to grow while also being involved in industry/professional groups such as Meet the Geeks.
  • Envision Eyecare (two-year winner): Consistent growth year over year. Moving to new offices this spring to accommodate increased business in eye care.
  • Express Employment Professionals, Inc. (four-year winner): Help organizations succeed by helping them attract and retain effective employees. Employ over 200 people at over 50 clients every week of the year.
  • French Broad Chocolates (two-year winner): Expanded business with tasting room, innovative roasting and chocolate production. Continuing to expand and grow
  • HomeTrust Bank (nine-year winner): More than 300 employees and recent expansion in the Charlotte market.
  • King Bio Inc. (two-year winner): Owner just released the book "The Healing Revolution." This manufacturer of natural medicines is ncreasing business and presence in WNC.
  • Mosaix Group (three-year winner): corporate event mangement with significant growth over 2012.
  • The Old Wood Company: Growing organically over the last few years with national recognition and clients for their wood furniture.
  • Parsec Financial: Locally owned financial planning firm with a commitment to community, contributing 2% of revenues to local non-profits.
  • Plasticard Locktech International (12-year winner): Explosive increase in revenue and in employee growth and retention. The largest manufacturer of hotel keycards in the world.
  • Printville (two-year winner): Ongoing growth with focus on employee retention and expanded services for printing and mailing.
  • Signarama of Asheville: Strong customer and community focus with support of many local non-profits. Growth driven by new clients and increased services.
  • SimplyHome, LLC (three-year winner): Innovation and passion drives this company's growth, using technology to provide independent living solutions for older individuals and people with disabilities.  2012 Edison Award winner for "Best New Product"
  • Sundance Power Systems (two-year winner): Constructing a new shop/warehouse that will expand capactiy and profitability for this solar energy contractor.
  • Sweet Biscuit Inn, Inc: New owners have revived the business with a clear vision and rigourous business plan.
  • Trout Insurance (five-year winner): Leader in providing information and support to individuals and business regarding the Affordable Care Act.
  • Union Transfer & Storage: Serving customers with quality for more than 60 years.
  • Zoe Dental: Provide dental services to greater Asheville area. Has increased workforce and revenue more than 25% in teh last two years.

“The Sky High Growth Award is a tribute to the success of these businesses and to their contribution to our local economy,” said Kit Cramer, President & CEO of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce. “It is also a tribute to our vibrant community where people and businesses thrive.”
