Duncan to head Economic Development Coalition

Asheville, NC, May 25, 2018 – Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce announced today that Clark Duncan, currently Vice President of Economic Development, will assume the role of Senior Vice President of Economic Development and Executive Director of the Economic Development Coalition (EDC) July 1, 2018.

Duncan takes over leadership of the EDC from Ben Teague who is joining Biltmore Farms as Vice President for Strategic Development. Teague will maintain strong ties with the Asheville Chamber and has been nominated to serve on the Asheville Chamber Board of Directors given his new role with Biltmore Farms.

“One of Ben’s legacies is an outstanding economic development staff, so it makes total sense that we would promote from within,” said Kit Cramer, President & CEO for the Asheville Chamber. “Clark has been a key member of the economic development team since 2008 I have every confidence that he will provide strong leadership for our economic development initiatives.”

Duncan has been instrumental in numerous economic development projects including securing New Belgium, White Labs and Fox Factories location in Asheville. In his new role, Duncan will oversee the Chamber’s company retention and recruitment efforts; Venture Asheville, the Chamber’s high-growth entrepreneurship initiative; execution of the AVL 5×5 economic development strategy; and research.
