WNC Career Fair Features 4,500 Openings, 110 Employers

Numbering 110, the most employers and career-employment services ever will be at next month's 10th-annual Homecoming Career Fair. The largest job fair in the region is scheduled to be held between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Western North Carolina Agricultural Center at 1301 Fanning Bridge Road in Fletcher. Up to 3,000 people have attended the fair in years past.

Charter Communications, Mission Health and The Cheat Sheet are just a few of the companies, nonprofits and government entities with roughly 4,500 openings that will be available for potential employees to explore.

"This is for anybody at any stage of their career who might want to find something better," Popowski said. "It's a great opportunity to meet with some of the area's top employers and start a conversation with them."

Mission has more than 700 openings, including about 250 nursing positions and more than 80 certified nursing assistant jobs.

Two seminar topics, presented by AARP North Carolina, will be covered at both 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. during the fair:

  • "Get Ready, Get Set, Go, Jobs at 40+"
  • "Encore Entrepreneurship"
