A Q+A with Studio Chavarria

Studio Chavarria is a unique hair salon in downtown Asheville that also features a rotating art gallery. It’s been an Asheville establishment since 1998, and offers a diverse selection of talented stylists as well as innovative, organic products. The owner, Guadalupe, has a refined and sophisticated style that embodies the atmosphere of the salon. Tell us a little bit of background about Studio Chavarria. Where did the vision begin?

Studio Chavarria has been owned and operated by Guadalupe Chavarria since its establishment in 1998. Since moving here from Austin, Guadalupe always knew he’d follow in his family’s footsteps and own a salon of his own one day.

How has that vision grown?

Since Studio Chavarria’s opening, Guadalupe has employed and educated over 200 stylists. Studio Chavarria is home to several talented and experienced stylists who are well versed in a plethora of services and products such as R&Co, Terax, Milkshake, Pulp Riot and Schwartzkopf Professional color lines. As a second-generation stylist with over 25 years of experience, Guadalupe excels at relaxing his clients, listening well, and executing a wide range of skills based on techniques from various creative influences. Thus, providing exceptional hairstyles, cuts, and colors. Guadalupe is passionate about all aspects of the beauty industry, sharing his knowledge and training others.

What does the word “community” mean to Studio Chavarria?

Guadalupe enjoys supporting local businesses and area arts. He dedicates much personal time to various boards such as CFWNC board of directors, UNCA Foundation Board as well as Board of Commissions Asheville. He has sponsored many arts events such as Power of the Purse and various other local businesses through his years of philanthropy. Community to him and his stylists means connecting, sharing, growing and supporting one another while providing jobs and contributing to Asheville’s growing economy.
