AdventHealth has struck up two key partnerships this week. The Quality Inn in Black Mountain has won the Choice’s Hotel Guest Satisfaction Award. And Lenoir-Rhyne University celebrates the graduation of more than 550 degrees.

Achievement

  • Congratulations to The Quality Inn in Black Mountain on winning the Choice Hotel’s 2019 Guest Satisfaction Award. The hotel is the only one in the area that has received this honor.
  • This week, Lenoir-Rhyne University will celebrate student achievement and success at commencement activities on its three campuses in Hickory and Asheville, North Carolina, and Columbia, South Carolina. University President Dr. Fred Whitt and University Provost Dr. Gary Johnson, among other faculty and staff, will celebrate the graduates’ accomplishments and confer more than 550 degrees for bachelor’s and master’s candidates.

Announcement

  • The North Carolina Arboretum, a 434-acre public garden located minutes from downtown Asheville and adjacent to the Blue Ridge Parkway, will transform into a canvas full of color and creativity as part of its 2019 Covered in Color summer celebration. From May 25 – September 2, visitors will experience the broad spectrum of color found in flowers and foliage while learning about color theory and design through floral displays, art, creative landscapes, and guided programs.

Hire

  • Rick Baker, Mars Hill University’s longtime sports information director and assistant athletic director, has been named director of athletics. He has served as interim athletic director for several months and will assume the director’s duties on a permanent basis on June 1.
  • AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to share that its physician Steven Hauser, MD, MPH is joining AdventHealth Medical Group Hospitalists at Hendersonville to care for patients during their time in its hospital. Dr. Hauser has been caring for patients in outpatient clinical locations since 2014. As a hospitalist, Dr. Hauser will focus his whole-person care on the unique medical needs of patient during a hospital stay.

    • Silver-Line Plastics, in Asheville, is seeking an Inside Sales Coordinator.  This position will serve as the primary liaison between the sales and operations team; actively working with territory managers to support sales goals, and provide administrative support.  Position requires strong customer service and computer skills with ERP software a definite plus.   • On May 21, 2019, the Mountain Area Health Education Center will host the 9th Annual HOPE Banquet benefitting the Minority Medical Mentoring Program. All proceeds from banquet will support scholarships for underrepresented Asheville City and Buncombe County high school students who are interested in pursuing advanced-level healthcare careers.   • AdventHealth and Wake Forest Baptist Health have signed a letter of intent, entering into exclusive discussions to expand services at AdventHealth Hendersonville, provide Wake Forest Baptist physicians to help staff specific specialty services at AdventHealth Hendersonville and offer both patients and employers access to the clinical, wellness and academic resources of Wake Forest Baptist.
