Congrats to the Givens Communities for obtaining the highest-level credential from SAGECare, Platinum Level.

Achievement

  • Givens Communities, a collection of non-profit senior living communities in Western North Carolina, strives to be an inclusive environment for both residents and team members. To further understanding of personal relationships, Givens team members embarked on a three-month journey to train on LGBT Cultural Competency through SAGECare. They are excited to announce that they have obtained the highest-level credential from SAGECare, Platinum Level.
  • Living Roofs, Inc., received an award for best Multi-Unit Residential Green Roof in North America. This is for a project designed and installed at the Garage Apartments here in Asheville.. Green Roofs for Healthy Cities (GRHC) will be presenting Living Roofs, Inc. the award at the Grey to Green Conference in Washington, DC on October 28.

Outreach

  • Party for a purpose with Mercy Urgent Care at its annual Mercy for Haiti benefit and art fair, from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11. The fundraising event, held in the Parish Hall at St. Eugene’s Church in north Asheville, will feature both a live and silent auction, delicious hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.   • Asheville Community Theatre is marking the 60th anniversary of Tanglewood with a reunion on Sunday, October 20. John Haber is expected to attend. Asheville residents and Tanglewood alumnae Stuart Camblos, Gay Coleman, Deborah Lewis-Smith, and DeDe Swift are helping to organize the event. Asheville Community Theatre has set aside a block of tickets for Tanglewood alumni for the 2:30 pm performance of The Wizard of Oz on Sunday, October 20, 2019.
