American Red Cross to offer New Responder Boot Camp – August 3rd

Over the past 12 months local American Red Cross Disaster Response Volunteers  have responded to more than 75 disasters in Buncombe County, providing immediate emergency assistance to those affected, along with supporting numerous disasters across the Western Carolinas Region and across the country. 

With the peak of hurricane season fast approaching and the ongoing threat from severe weather, flooding,and the day to day threat of fires in the community, the American Red Cross Western Carolinas Region will be hosting a New Responder Boot Camp on Saturday August 3rd from 9am to 5:30pm at the Asheville office, 100 Edgewood Rd. 

Attendees of the Boot Camp will receive three training courses: Disaster Services:an
Overview, Shelter Fundamentals, and Disaster Assessment. Upon completion of the training
portion attendees will be guided thru the online application and background check process,
along with receiving information about an online orientation. Upon successful completion of
the training, application, and background check attendees will become Red Cross Volunteers.
