Kids in the Crossnore School and Children’s Home foster care program can look forward to a merrier Christmas this year, thanks to donations from AdventHealth and members of local churches who pitched in to fill their wishlists. Volunteers spent this past week loading vans and distributing the gifts to the kids in the Crossnore program. The Crossnore School offers community-based family foster care, as well as outpatient and school-based clinical services. In total, they serve more than 1000 children.

Announcement

  • If you own a business in North Carolina, you may not be aware that you need to list your business assets with the Assessor’s Office. Business assets like furniture, fixtures, and equipment used to produce income are required to be listed with the Assessor in January of each year. The listing period begins January 1, and must be completed by the end of the month. There are late penalties if your assets are filed after January 31, so make sure to finish on time. Listing forms and instructions may be found online, and the Tax Assessor’s Office is happy to answer any questions over the phone at 828-250-4930.

Funding

  • Asheville Chamber member RiverLink has received a surprise challenge match from Patagonia! Patagonia will match all donations made to Riverlink this month up to a program maximum of $10 million. Riverlink is a local nonprofit that promotes the environmental and economic vitality of the French Broad River as a place to live, work, and play. They accomplish this through conservation easements, greenway development, youth outreach and education, adaptive reuse of historic structures, and organizing volunteers. Contribute to the match challenge here.
