More local kids are going to camp this summer thanks to the Omni Grove Park Inn, which has donated $13,000 to Camp Watia, a sleepaway camp in Bryson City. The donation, which came partially from the 27th National Gingerbread House Competition, will fund scholarships so kids can get outside this summer, unplug from the Internet and devices, and make friends with campers and counselors.
