Attorney Paul Capua has renovated his Capua Law Walnut Street office with the goal of creating a new kind of law office. Capua expanded into Asheville from Watauga County several years ago, and recognized the importance of collaboration in successful law practices. His new loft space has natural light, open floor plans, and no assigned desks; his overall goal is to build a progressive team of attorneys and engage with the local community.

Award

  • Attorney Lou Bissette of McGuire, Wood, & Bissette Law Firm was recently awarded The Medallion of Merit by Wake Forest University. The honor is presented annually for outsanding achievement and distinguished contributions to the University, and represents the highest honor. MWB Attorney Lou Bissette was given The Medallion of Merit, the highest honor given by Wake Forest University presented annually for outstanding achievement and distinguished contribution to the University. Mr. Bissette earned his B.A. from Wake forest in 1965, and also holds a J.D. from UNC Chapel Hill and an MBA from the University of Virginia. In 1976, he began practicing with McGuire, Wood, & Bissette and focuses on land use, zoning, economic development, and corporate law. He is a long-time and current Chamber board member.

  • AdventHealth Hendersonville is expanding their Biltmore Park team. Nicole Drake, MSM, PA-C has come on board to help provide quality, whole-person care. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Michigan State University and went on to complete both her Master of Science in medicine and physician assistant certification at Western Michigan University. She has experience in a variety of care settings ranging from family medicine to specialty care in Michigan and North Carolina.

Just For Fun 

  • A new documentary film about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is set to be released soon. Since its creation in 1995, the Imagination Foundation has mailed more than 135 million books to children in its program. The film will offer a behind-the-scenes look at Dolly Parton’s passion for increasing literacy rates and the effects its had on children. The Asheville premiere is on Thursday, April 2nd. The Buncombe County Partnership for Children and the Literacy Council of Buncombe County have been affiliates of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library since 2015. This week, they mailed 2,800+ books to kids in Buncombe County. The documentary will screen in Asheville at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 2nd at the Regal Biltmore Grand.
