May 4, 2018

This week in AVL Biz, we congratulate Allegra Marketing, Gardner-Webb University, and Pardee UNC Health Care on the recent milestones. We wish the ZSR scholars a wonderful sabbatical, and encourage you all to get in touch with your inner dramaturge for ACT’s new season.

  • Chamber member Allegra Marketing Print & Mail is proud to announce that their Account Executive, Jeff Corpening, has been awarded The Advertising Specialty Institute’s Bachelor of Advertising Specialty Information (BASI) certification – the industry equivalent of a bachelor’s degree. This accomplishment recognizes Mr. Corpening as an industry expert who has the knowledge to thoroughly understand and navigate the promotional products marketplace for the benefit of his clients.
  • The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation (ZSR) is pleased to announce the recipients of its 2018 Sabbatical Program. • Pardee UNC Health Care has appointed Shaun Clayton, BSN, RN, as the new Emergency Department Director. Previously, Clayton was named interim director in October 2017. She has worked in Pardee’s emergency department since 2007, serving as the clinical manager since 2014.

  • Pardee UNC Health Care has expanded its sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) program, allowing the hospital to have a SANE on call 24/7. A SANE is a registered nurse who has completed specialized education and clinical preparation to provide comprehensive care to sexual assault victims.
  • Gardner-Webb University has finalized plans for a new online degree program through the School of Education. Beginning in fall 2018, the University will offer a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership (BAOL) through the Degree Completion Program (DCP).

  • Is there a show that you’ve always wanted to direct? To star in? Could that show be performed in an intimate, black box theatre? Asheville Community Theatre is seeking proposals for shows to be presented in 35below, the small theatre located at the back of the ACT building, for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Anyone in the community is welcome to propose a show for the 35below season. Successful applicants should think about shows with small casts and light scenic needs and consider scripts that offer a diversity of voices, perspectives, and experiences; scripts by women and/or people of color; and scripts that illuminate contemporary issues.
