Conrad & Scherer: Local in spirit, international in scope

September 4, 2019

In this week’s spotlight, Associate Attorney Tyler Stull answers a few questions about the vision and growth of Conrad & Scherer, L.L.P. This Brevard-based business and commercial litigation law firm remains local in spirit while also representing clients internationally, including some Fortune 100 institutions.

Tell us about your business and the role you play in it.

Conrad & Scherer was founded in 1974 and began as a small, local law firm comprised of trial attorneys. After 45 years we are still growing and taking on new challenges. We focus our practice on litigation and trial work, and pride ourselves on a willingness to take on highly contested matters in any forum.

As an attorney at the firm I handle employment disputes, commercial litigation, and “bet-the-company” litigation for our clients. My colleague Candace Mance handles commercial litigation, health care law, and appellate matters.

How has your company grown over the years?

The firm started as a local firm that only had two partners. While we remain local in spirit, we now represent clients across the U.S. and internationally, including some Fortune 100 institutions.

The greatest business advice you’ve been given?

My father is a carpenter, and he always said “Measure twice, cut once.” This same approach works in law. By taking a little more time to evaluate a strategy or think about an issue, we can save our clients from expenses and hassles that they shouldn’t have to deal with.

What do you see as your company’s legacy?

I hope our firm is remembered for a willingness to go toe-to-toe with other lawyers and law firms, while keeping the client’s best interests in mind.

What’s on the horizon?

This year we are focusing on being more involved with Asheville businesses. We want people to know that we are here to help them with their legal issues, both big and small.
