Edward J. McGowan, Jr. recognized as Distinguished Toastmaster

Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity’s Finance Director, Edward J. McGowan, Jr., has been recognized as a Distinguished Toastmaster by Toastmasters International. Of more than 260,000 members, only a few ever achieve this great honor. 

To receive the honor, McGowan participated in the rigorous Toastmasters’ Communications and Leadership program, conducted several seminar-style programs, served as a leader at different organizational levels, mentored a local Toastmasters club and much more. McGowan attained the special honor after many years of study, dedication, self-discipline and active participation in the Toastmasters organization.
“Toastmasters helped me develop and hone my communication and leadership skills, which benefits me personally and professionally. I am honored to receive this award and strongly encourage others to learn more about the Toastmasters organization,” said McGowan. 
McGowan is a CPA with a BBA in Accounting from Pace University and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Western Carolina University. McGowan and his wife Nancy live in Arden, NC and have three grown children.
