David Madden presents MARBLE GODDESSES AND MORTAL FLESH

The thirteenth work of fiction by Knoxville native and Black Mountain resident David Madden consists of four novellas that weave together the life of the inimitable Lucius Hutchfield as he moves from youth to middle age and between vocations and adventures. Robert Morgan calls David Madden “a master Appalachian storyteller.” Whether you count yourself among Madden’s longtime fans or simply appreciate well-drawn characters in well-told tales, you won’t want to miss this event.

MACKENZI LEE and ROSHANI CHOKSHI present THE GENTLEMEN’S GUIDE TO VICE AND VIRTUE and A CROWN OF WISHES

Young adult fiction fans rejoice! Join us for an evening of adventure, intrigue, and fun with two YA authors. Mackenzi Lee’s The Gentlemen’s Guide to Vice and Virtue is a swashbuckling stand-alone historical novel revolving around Henry “Monty” Montague,  a young bisexual British lord who embarks on an unforgettable Grand Tour of Europe with his best friend/secret crush.  In A Crown of Wishes, Roshani Chokshi, the author of Star Touched Queen, conjures a lush fantasy in which Gauri, the princess of Bharata, must join her own formidable force with that of an enemy to secure her future.

J. Robert Lennon and Adam O’Fallon Price present BROKEN RIVER and THE GRAND TOUR

If you enjoy being masterfully unsettled, this is the event for you. J. Robert Lennon opens Broken Riverwith a plunge into terror and proceeds to unwind a cinematic, darkly comic, and sui generis psychological thriller in which characters are endangered by multiple forces including self-deceit. In The Grand Tour, Adam O’Fallon Price offers up compelling discomfort and surprising warmth from pairing a misanthropic author of advancing years with a despondent young fan. Lennon was Price’s graduate professor at Cornell, where the two played in a band together.  Their conversation is sure to be a treat, and they will also play some music!
