Songs for a New World Runs March 3-19, 2017:This moving collection of powerful songs by Tony Award winner Jason Robert Brown examines life, love and the choices we make. Songs for a New World is produced and directed by Mark Jones and stars Jones, Nana Hosmer Griffin, Dwight Chiles, and Kelli Mullinix. The show runs March 3-19, 2017 in 35below with performances Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm. Youth Production Class presents The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe:The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe explores the magic and mystery of Aslan, the great lion, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into a never-to-be-forgotten world. This production is performed by a class of students ranging in age from 7 to 14. Directed by Bradshaw Call. Performances are Friday, March 17, 2017 at 7:30 pm and Saturday & Sunday, March 18-19, 2017 at 2:30 pm. All performances will be held at the Belk Theatre on the UNC Asheville campus. Peter and the Starcatcher Runs March 30 – April 15, 2017: Asheville Community Theatre is joining forces with the UNC Asheville drama department for a co-production of Peter and the Starcatcher. Tony Award-winning Peter and the Starcatcher is a swashbuckling prequel to Peter Pan. Featuring a dozen actors portraying more than 100 unforgettable characters – including the precocious Molly and the fearsome Black Stache – Peter and the Starcatcher playfully explores the depths of greed and despair and the bonds of friendship, duty, and love. Directed by Chanda Calentine. The show runs March 30 – April 15, 2017 with performances Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm in the Carol Belk Theatre on the UNC Asheville campus. Tickets range from $12.00-$22.00 and are available online at www.ashevilletheatre.org, by phone at 828-254-1320 or in person at the ACT Box Office. Storytelling series Listen to This:In the vein of “The Moth” or “This American Life,” Listen to This features stories and original songs from locals. March’s installment will be presented on March 30, 2017 at 7:30 pm in 35below. Hosted by Tom Chalmers. Actor’s Center of Asheville presents This is Our Youth: Asheville Community Theatre welcomes Actor’s Center of Asheville and their production of This is Our Youth. This is Our Youth is a living snapshot of the moment between adolescence and adulthood in the lives of three very lost, young souls living on Manhattan’s Upper West Side at the dawn of the Reagan era. The show runs March 31 – April 16, 2017 in 35below with performances Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 pm and Sunday afternoons at 2:30 pm. Directed by Robert Dale Walker.
