Open studios art tour at historic Grovewood Village every third Saturday

July 5, 2017

May – November from 11am – 4pm

Every third Saturday of the month during May through November, the resident artists at Grovewood Village open up their studios to the public, allowing visitors to gain insight into their creative process and view their most recent works. Tours are free and self-guided and will take place from 11am – 4pm on all dates.

Grovewood Village is home to 12 resident artists whose workspaces were originally built to house the weaving and woodworking operations of Biltmore Industries – a groundbreaking enterprise in the history of American craft and textiles. Today, these resident artists create jewelry, pottery, sculpture and more, in the same workshops where Biltmore Handwoven Homespun was once created.

“This region has so much to offer artistically, and this is a wonderful opportunity for the public to connect with some of our local makers,” says Ashley Van Matre, Marketing Manager at Grovewood Village. “Hopefully people walk away inspired, with a better appreciation for the artists’ work.”

All participating artists will have works for sale, and visitors are encouraged to go next door to Grovewood Gallery, where additional artwork will be on display.

Please Note: Many of the resident artists spend time away at shows and working on commissions. If you really want to see a particular artist, please make sure their studio is going to be open before you visit. Appointments for studio visits are welcome throughout the year and can be scheduled through Grovewood Gallery or by contacting the artists directly. Learn more at www.grovewood.com/resident-artists.
