Quality Forward becomes Asheville Green Works

April 15, 2009

Celebrating 35 years of serving Asheville and Buncombe County, Quality Forward is changing its name to Asheville GreenWorks as it continues to work toward a Clean and Green community. The organization plans to continue in the same work that has made it a fixture of the local community. From its inception, Asheville GreenWorks/Quality Forward’s emphasis has been on spearheading neighborhood-based projects and encouraging community volunteerism for positive environmental change.

Through its grassroots outreach programs, Asheville GreenWorks/Quality Forward promotes anti-litter, waste reduction and recycling, while promoting public awareness of the value of urban trees. Many of the trees throughout Asheville and surrounding Buncombe County have been planted by Asheville GreenWorks/Quality Forward volunteers. Some of the past planting projects include downtown Asheville, public housing neighborhoods, and city and county parks. Our volunteers also dedicate many hours to picking up litter along our streets, highways, and rivers. In efforts towards a Clean and Green future, Asheville GreenWorks/Quality Forward works to create good stewards of the environment by educating school children and creating partnerships with neighborhoods and community groups.
