This Week’s Business Buzz: 7/9/18

July 6, 2018

In the spirit of Independence Day, like many businesses this week, our office has not exactly been bustling. However, we still have a few #avlBiz highlights to share. The Daniels Group is officially a certified Woman Business Enterprise by the NWBOC, Mercy Urgent Care is offering free tick removal kits, Mars Hill University is involved with a special program to fight human trafficking, and Friday Staffing has numerous job opportunities.

Achievement

  • The Daniels Group, an Asheville-based commercial printing company and call center service run by third-generation owner Jami Daniels, announced today that The Daniels Group is a certified Woman Business Enterprise by the NWBOC. Recognized by hundreds of companies, NWBOC certification is the tour de force for any Woman Owned Business in the United States.

Opportunity

  • Friday Staffing is looking for a Human Resource Assistant, Wiring Technician, Prep Shop Tech, Coldform Operator, Machine Operator, Finishing Operator, and Furnace Operator. For more information, call Angela Paskus at 828-684-8700 or go to www.friday-staffing.com

Outreach

  • Mercy Urgent Care will be offering one free tick removal kit per family while supplies last at each of its five urgent care locations in Asheville, Weaverville, and Brevard.
  • Students in Mars Hill University’s criminal justice program will be working with the federal government’s Human Smuggling & Trafficking Center (HSTC) in the fight against human trafficking. Mars Hill students will work remotely with members of HSTC in Washington, helping process open-source, research-driven intelligence to support local and national anti-human trafficking efforts.
